2026 Special Guests
Chris Ware is an artist, writer and regular contributor to New Yorker Magazine; his book Jimmy Corrigan – the Smartest Kid on Earth, was awarded The Guardian Prize. Building Stories was chosen as a Top 10 Fiction Book and Rusty Brown a Top 100 Fiction Book by The New York Times. He has exhibited at the Whitney Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and the Hammer Museum; a traveling retrospective of his work began at Centre Pompidou in 2022 and concluded at the CCCB Barcelona in Autumn 2025; it will make its only US appearance in May 2026 at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library in Columbus, Ohio.

Lisa Hanawalt is an artist and writer living in Los Angeles, CA. She is the creator of the animated series Tuca and Birdie and the production designer/producer on Bojack Horseman and Long Story Short. Lisa has published four books with Drawn and Quarterly: My Dirty Dumb Eyes, Hot Dog Taste Test, Coyote Doggirl, and I Want You. Her fifth book, I Can’t Stop Thinking About Horses and Sex comes out later this fall.

Rosemary Vallero-O’Connell is a Spanish-American cartoonist and illustrator living in Brooklyn, and the creator of Don’t Go Without Me (ShortBox Comics) and the co-creator of Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me (First Second). She is a multiple time Eisner, Ignatz, and Harvey Awards winner, as well as a Printz and Society of Illustrators honoree, and her work has been shown in galleries both locally and internationally.

Caroline Cash is the current cartoonist for the legacy comic strip Nancy. Her work has appeared in MoMA Magazine, the Chicago Tribune, Fashion Brand Company's newsletter, The New Yorker, wheat pasted on the sides of fences, The Nib, VICE, The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, Partners and Son, The Chicago Reader, and in various other publications & galleries. Cash is a Macdowell Fellow, SAIC graduate, and occasional comics professor. Besides Nancy, she writes Adventure Time comics for Oni Press. Cash is also working on her Eisner- and Ignatz-award winning series PeePeePooPoo, as well as her untitled debut graphic novel, which will be published by Drawn and Quarterly in 2028. Cash is a Capricorn sun, Virgo moon, Leo rising.

Ronald Wimberly is the creator of the Eisner Award-nominated LAAB, Gratuitous Ninja, and the acclaimed graphic novel Prince of Cats. Wimberly was the 2016 Columbus Museum Comics Resident, and was a two-time resident cartoonist at Angoulême’s Maison des Auteurs. He is the recipient of two Glyph Awards and has published works for New Yorker Magazine, DC/Vertigo, Marvel, and Dark Horse. Wimberly has also had projects in development with Hulu, Netflix, and Legendary.

Tara Booth is an Eisner- and Ignatz Award-Winning comic artist, illustrator and painter from Philadelphia. Tara's candid autobiographical comics shed lightness and humor on issues related to mental health, addiction, and sexuality. Known for her painterly approach to comics, often using bright colors and dizzying patterns- Booth's work has been featured in publications like The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, VICE, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Best American Comics. Tara loves to travel and hike with her two dogs.

Wendy Xu is a bestselling, award-nominated Brooklyn-based illustrator and comics artist. She is the creator of Infinity Particle (2023, HarperCollins/Quilltree), Tidesong (2021 HarperCollins/Quilltree) and co-creator of Mooncakes, a young adult fantasy graphic novel published in 2019 from Oni Press. Her work has been featured in various places on the internet. She loves obsessing over the perfect line, making matcha lattes, and art history.

Linnea Sterte is an unstoppable force. A comic artist from Sweden, multi Eisner Award nominee, Angouleme Prix Revelation and Ignatz winner, and famous for drawing frogs. She’s the author of Stages of Rot, A Frog in the Fall, and A Garden of Spheres, among other projects, including a film project with Werner Herzog (?!). This will be her second time visiting New York.
